Netherlands Visa Services

Your complete guide to studying abroad, from application to approval.

Documents, Fees and Facilitation

You need to be clear regarding purpose of visit and choose the right visa for your trip. We will assist you and help you through the entire visa application process and we are not permitted to advise or guide you on choosing a visa category. We have no say in the decision on your visa application and cannot influence how long it will take to process your application. This is determined by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, which processes your visa application. You can apply for your short-stay Schengen visa for the Netherlands or for a visa for the Caribbean parts of the Kingdom. The Visa Application Centre for the Netherlands in Pakistan also accepts short–stay Schengen visa applications for Finland.

Visiting more than one Schengen country?

You will have to obtain the Schengen visa from the country where the main purpose of travel lies. When travelling to more than one Schengen country, submit your application with the country where you will be staying the longest. In case of equally long stays, you have to apply with the Schengen country where you arrive first. Also travelling to a non-Schengen country? When also travelling to another country outside the Schengen area (for example in the Caribbean, Romania, the United Kingdom and/or the United States), apply for the other visa first, before applying for the Schengen visa.

Complete the online application form, print it and sign it. Also, please mention your name along with surname of father and spouse, if applicable. Please ensure that you provide all the required supporting documents as mentioned in the checklist. If any documents are missing, your visa application will be delayed or might be rejected. Download the relevant document checklist (select your visa category and see the tab ‘documents required’).

All applicants need to schedule an appointment to submit their application at the VFS Visa Application Centre for the Netherlands. As a general rule, every applicant has to submit the application in person (this includes babies and children). Please contact the Visa Application Centre for more information regarding exceptions. Schedule an appointment at the VFS Visa Application Centre. After booking your appointment, you will receive an e-mail confirming your appointment, with a confirmation letter attached.

If you apply as a family or other kind of group, please mention you are a member of a group. It is necessary to book an individual appointment for each member of a group.

Submit your visa application with all the required documents at the scheduled time of your appointment. As a general rule, at the appointment every applicant has to show up in person (this includes babies and children). There are some exceptions: for more information, please contact the Visa Application Centre. Pay the service fee and the visa fee (s), if applicable.

Please note: your biometrics (fingerprints and a digital live photograph) will be collected during the appointment. Find out more about the procedure at the Visa Application Centre.

You will receive an e-mail update when the decision on your visa application has been finalized. Please opt for SMS updates (for an additional fee) if you cannot easily or regularly access e-mail. You can also track your visa application online. Use the reference number on the invoice/receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre along with your last name to access this service.

After a decision on your visa application has been made, you can pick up your passport from the Visa Application Centre or have your passport returned to you by courier (if offered by the Visa Application Centre) for an additional fee. When collecting your passport by yourself, please bring: your valid ID; and the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre. When sending someone else to collect the passport, he / she should bring: letter of authorization signed by you; a copy of your valid ID; the valid ID of the person collecting for you; and the receipt issued to you by the Visa Application Centre.

If your visa has been approved, you can travel to the Netherlands. However, you do need to meet certain requirements. If your application for a visa for the Netherlands has been refused, you will receive an official letter explaining the decision. Has your application been approved, but do you disagree with, for example, the start date or the validity of your visa? Then you can also object to the decision. You will then have 4 weeks to object to this decision in writing. If your objection is successful, you can apply for a visa after appeal.

There are no additional fees for collection of your passport/ documents after a decision has been made. If you have been asked for an additional fee for this service, please contact us at acco@vfsglobal.com
